Our Mission

From Compassion to Chocolate.
Some stories begin with cacao.
Our Love for Humanity came before our Love for Chocolate
At Mayon Gold, chocolate isn’t our end goal—it’s the vehicle we use to transform lives. Powered by the Muravah Foundation, our mission is simple: to empower Filipino farming communities out of poverty—sustainably, permanently, and with dignity.
What began in the slums of Manila as an education program has now evolved into a full-circle, community-driven movement of farming, food, shelter, and hope.

Where It All Started
In 2008, we saw children unable to finish school and families living on less than $2 a day. Our promise then was bold: “If you stay in school, we’ll support you all the way through college.”
It worked.
Today, some of those same kids are nurses, architects, and entrepreneurs—proof that opportunity changes everything.
A New Path Through Cacao
In 2015, we began working with coconut farmers in Bicol. Most lived well below the poverty line. But we discovered something transformative:
🌴 Cacao can be grown alongside coconut trees.
💰 It can multiply a farmer’s income by up to 4X.
🌾 It can do all this sustainably—with no chemicals, no exploitation.
We didn’t stop at handing out seedlings. We taught the science of biodiverse farming, planted 35,000+ trees, and today we work with over 500 local farmers—many of whom now grow cacao with pride, purpose, and profit.
Built by Nature, Grounded in Sustainability
The Bicol region sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, with volcanic soil and a climate that breathes life into every cacao tree.
Here, we don’t just plant crops—we nurture ecosystems:
- Cacao co-planted with coconut, banana & native trees
- Attracts pollinators, improves soil, boosts biodiversity
- No chemicals, pesticides, or forced farming methods
- Wild, minimal-intervention agriculture that respects the land
This is more than sustainability—it’s nature-first regeneration.

Empowering People, Not Just Land
Sustainability isn’t only environmental—it’s social.
Through the Muravah Foundation, we’ve launched:
- Employment for single mothers in our processing center
- 80+ typhoon-proof homes for vulnerable families
- Scholarships, school repairs, and medical clinics
- A full farm-to-bar chocolate business that keeps 100% of the value within the community
“THE MORE CHOCOLATE WE SELL THE MORE FARMERS WE HELP”
Why It Works
- We pay double the average farm-door price
- We plant biodiverse ecosystems, not monocrops
- We turn cacao into chocolate right in the farming community
- We reinvest profits into local housing and education
- We create jobs at every level—from planting to packaging
And most importantly, we’re locally led. Our team is made up of passionate Albay locals—not outsiders directing the change, but people driving it.

A Voice from the Ground
“When I joined Muravah, I was a single mom with two kids and no electricity. Today, I have a home, running water, solar light, and a stable job. I don’t rent anymore. I’m building a future.”
— Shiela Recania, Production Staff
